What is Liquid Metal?
Liquid metal is a real metal coating, which consist of 95% metal powder. The liquid metals can be painted and filled and can be applied to almost any surface. After surface metallization, the surface has all the properties of cast metal, both visually and in terms of gloss and heat conduction.
Liquid metal coating is a cold sprayable liquid metal which contains real metal. It can be applied to a variety of surfaces which include (but are not limited to) laminate, melamine, wood, plastic, gypsum, fibreglass, ceramics, concrete, foam, porcelain, glass and metal.
Liquid metal offers you completely new possibilities in design and for finished products, as the metal coatings can be applied by professional applicators with limitless possibilities.
A variety of metal types and different finishes make the surfaces look matt, shiny, textured, rusty or patinated, depending on the work involved. The liquid metal surfaces have all the properties of solid, massive metal in terms of look and feel.
How can it be used?
Liquid metal coating can be applied to:
How does it work?
The surface which the liquid metal is to be applied, are sanded and prepared initially to ensure the surface is smooth and paintable. For MDF, steel and powder coated substrates the product is primed, cured, sanded and the liquid metal is applied. Once applied, the product is cured where the resin rises to the top. Once this has happened the product is sanded and polished to the desired effect. If the product is being aged, a patina solution is used to age the surface and any required effects such as brushing can be added. Once the desired effect has been achieved, the product is waxed or a lacquer can be applied.
Can it be used on outdoor environments?
Liquid metals can be used for exterior applications. Liquid metal products that are already suitable for exterior use and can have liquid metal coating applied to them. In weather tests, representing a period of about 30 years, no significant signs of wear were found.
What are the advantages of having liquid metal coating?
One of the biggest advantages of liquid metal is that it seamless, there will be no joins or welds on the product. Also when being sprayed onto a product there are no gaps which means it is much more hygienic, especially with table edge banding and table tops. Another advantage of liquid metal is that if something is not available in the metal coating to achieve the desired style, it can be a cost effective way of creating bespoke finishes.

How to protect liquid metal after application
Liquid metals are very extremely durable and have been weather tested to 30 years so can be applied to exterior projects as well as interior. There are a number of clear coat lacquers and waxes that can seal the finish if required.
Certification
The liquid metal's we use have been tested to 30 years exterior use and weather resistance, we are B1 & B2 fire rated, we are IMO (International Maritime Organisation) certified meaning our coatings can be applied to the interiors of yachts and cruise ships, we also have new taber abrasion test data to highlight durability and substrate adhesion.
