We suggest our resin floors are laid on timber substrate with an overlay of Fermacell 2E11 Board. These specialist boards are thermally more efficient and eliminate the shrinkage which in time may effect ordinary plywood. In addition to timber substrate we can go over any strong and correct crack free screed. Talk us if you need advice about this.
Fermacell 2E11 Overlay Boards can be located through an online search.
We can apply resin over existing tiled or wooden floors regardless of their size. Staircases are also possible (to match the floors) whether it’s for a living room, bedroom, hallway, kitchen, recreational room, bathroom, wet room or shower room area. We can also apply our systems to outside areas (subject to certain conditions), giving continuity from the interior to the exterior.
Our resin floors are compatible for use with all modern underfloor heating systems for exceptional underfoot comfort.
KoolCreations resin floor systems can be installed on any substrate providing the substrate is free of movement and moisture free. Fully cured concrete substrates should provide a fully functional damp proof membrane and any moisture levels should meet our requirements. Normally a concrete screed needs a period of 30 days to fully dry out in favourable environments. The strength of the concrete should be 30N/mm2, offering a flexible tensile strength of 1.3N/mm2. Moisture is our main enemy so we insist it is no greater than 4% when measured using a Calcium Carbide method at the time of laying. Resin floors need 24hrs to reach a dry/cure level acceptable for light traffic. The full chemical cure takes up to 7 days.
Shore Hardness scales measure the hardness of various materials. Read all about the different Shore Hardness scales and their application.
We can reduce sound transmission through the use of an elastic sound dampening layer which sits under the resin. This is great for gyms as it is softer and absorbs impact. This treatment lends itself to libraries and is amazing for the home where a pleasing appearance, high walking comfort and minimum noise levels are as important. We use tougher products for garages which require more resistance to heavy weights and general wear and tear. As too in shops and offices where high footfall is a consideration. Our resin flooring is combined with a proprietary shock pad allowing us to achieve results that are softer with less sound transmission.
We offer UV resistant seal coats prevent yellowing - in particular lighter colours - from sunlight.
